GLN Consulting specializes in helping psychology teachers to enhance their students' thinking skills through engagement in explanatory modeling activities.  GLN Consulting offers a variety of services organized around the use of explanatory modeling activities to help students develop and refine the cognitive skills that are necessary to think critically about the subject matter of psychology and essential for conducting basic and applied research in psychology and for presenting, analyzing, and evaluating sophisticated psychological arguments.

These services might involve helping teachers to integrate student engagement in explanatory modeling activities into their psychology courses, or helping teachers to use instruction in explanatory modeling activities to supervise student research.  With all these services, the approach is to help teachers develop their students' thinking skills by (1) engaging them in explanatory modeling activities and (2) integrating engagement in these activities with the the teacher's current teaching or supervisory methods and instructional resources.  Explanatory modeling activities involve (1) constructing, evaluating, and refining explanatory models of psychological phenomena (e.g. behavior and/or mental processes), and (2) metacognitive reflection on and/or discussion of their modeling activities.
